Project
Travel behaviour in Waterloo Region was analyzed within a tour-based framework using transit and active transportation data collected for the Region of Waterloo, along with other datasets to result in:

1. Documentation of tour-based travel patterns in the Region of Waterloo.
2. The development of a prototype model of activity/tour-based travel in the Waterloo Region based on the TASHA (Travel/Activity Scheduler for Household Agents) model system originally developed for the Greater Toronto-Hamilton Area (GTHA) to support transportation and land use policy analysis in the Region.
3. Enhanced understanding of traveler behaviour – destination, mode and path choice – for more sustainable transportation modes potentially leading to enhanced representation in travel forecasting models.
4. Policy guidance to the Region of Waterloo concerning land use policies and transit network design to promote more sustainable travel behaviour in the Region.
