In this project, we created novel tools required for the automated management of urban transportation dynamic informatics to create a multi-model Advanced Traveller Information System (ATIS) that consumes traffic and transit data services from multiple agencies and sources.
People both seek and expect intelligence from transportation systems: on-time performance, reliability, live information and context-sensitive services that transcend jurisdictional borders. Pervasive connectivity across people (social), physical and software (cyber) systems create unprecedented opportunities for innovation.
Hence, an intelligent transportation system (ITS) is a pervasively connected conglomerated CPS system of systems that captures decision-making and expertise within smart algorithms and software that run on extensible HPC platforms, processing real-time sensor observations from the physical world, historical data and information dispersed in the cloud, as well as experiences of others (citizens, travellers, operators and experts).
